About
Material culture includes the objects made or modified from nature which are born out of custom, habit, and ritual within the human experience. Materiality permeates daily life around the world, through centuries, between civilizations, among peoples—it crosses the boundaries of time and space. It is the study of objects made, bought, sold, and passed down, and the layered meanings and significance given to them. Interpersonal relationships inform the manufacture and use of objects. Also any object can inform human interaction. All of this allows us to better understand ourselves but it also helps us to relate, and understand others.
